Sin City for the Sippy-Cup Set

Jay Weissman and her wife moved to the Las Vegas Valley from Santa Barbara, Calif., three years ago to start a family — an unusual decision, perhaps, given that the area is mostly known for adult entertainment.

But Weissman said the move turned out to be one of the best decisions she ever made. Weissman, 36, and her wife, Melanie Weissman-Rush, 37, work from home as freelance customer service managers for online retail companies and together run an online photography studio. With a combined annual income of about $72,000, they said they just couldn’t afford to raise a family in California.

The couple owns a four-bedroom house in Henderson, 10 miles outside of Las Vegas, with a view of the downtown skyline. Their mortgage is about half what they were paying for rent in California. Read more and watch the video...
