Welcome to My Queer Bookstore (2009)
Located in Taipei, Taiwan, Gin Gin’s Bookstore is the one and only bookstore dedicated to the LGBT community in the Chinese-speaking world. The director explores the lawsuits and the discussion this iconic space has ignited, as well as its place in gay culture: hosting numerous public forums, book signing and promotional activities for gay films and television shows. Envisioning Justice (2008)
This 32-minute documentary is about the life and work of the New York-based transgendered activist, Pauline Park. A transracial adoptee born in Korea, Park is a co-founder of the New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy (NYAGRA), the first statewide transgender advocacy organization in New York. Park led the campaign for passage of Intro No. 24, the transgender rights ordinance enacted by the New York City Council as Local Law 3 of 2002. She also negotiated inclusion of gender identity and expression in the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), a safe schools bill currently pending in the New York state legislature. Daughters from China (2002)
In China, legend has it that when a baby girl is born a red thread is tied between her and those closest to her. Under the current Chinese government's one-child policy, baby girls are sometimes unwanted by their natural parents and adopted by American couples. From the adoptive parents' recollections of meeting their daughters to the girls' honest reflections of growing up in Western society, Daughters from China provides an upbeat, heartwarming glimpse into these families where love transcends racial differences. The largest city in New Jersey, Newark has always had an image problem. It is known as a crime-ridden city with high poverty rate, a notorious school system, and racial tension. To many people in New Jersey, Newark is a transportation hub that many commuters go through every day but never step outside of. Few people know that it is a city that is home to the most cultural, art, and historical institutions in the state. For decades, the city has been striving for an economic and cultural renaissance. The Hannah Caldwell Story: American Revolutionary and Patriot (2005)
Hannah Caldwell was a mother and homemaker from Union, NJ who was shot and killed by the British troops during the American Revolutionary. She is on the the county seal of Union County.
